Aster

Aster was referred by the Opticians to the Ophthalmology Department when she was six where Vista’s Eye Clinic Liaison Officer explained that Aster’s vision was in the criteria for being sight impaired.

At Vista they were offered advice on schooling and how Vista could help immediately as well as in the future. Aster’s mum says "I felt quite lonely and the parents I knew at school were not supportive of the news I had just received. At Vista I found a community of parents who understood and through the years, Vista are simply my 'go to' !"

Aster has attended cooking classes, independent activities and family events, as well as a Calvert Trust residential trip.

Aster’s vision has deteriorated over time, and she is now registered severely sight impaired, but this has not stopped her, she is studying Biological Sciences at University of Warwick.  Vista were there to support her through this time, providing information and advice.

She is confident and her own advocate for what she needs to support herself in life and this can only happen with the right support in place.

Last year Vista supported over 500 children and young people across the region. Please help Vista support other children like Aster to fulfil their potential, build confidence and achieve their aspirations.
