Faisal

Faisal along with his brother have been supported by Vista’s Children Young People & Family Support Team for the last 12 years.   They were introduced to Vista by the Eye Clinic Liaison Officer at the hospital who provided information on certification and registration eye care pathway.  This was followed by an assessment by the children’s habilitation team and a referral was also made to the City education team to support them in their education.

Through Vista, the boys have been involved in activities such as Stay and Play and music therapy and had an amazing opportunity to attend the Calvert residential trip.  Faisal’s mum says; “For Faisal, the most significant change was his increased confidence especially when he began to use his cane, following mobility and orientation training, and got involved with activities and started making new friends.”

Vista is there to support the whole family.  Faisal’s mum said; “As a mum with two boys who both have a visual impairment I didn’t know where to go or who could help me. I was very frustrated and emotional in the beginning. I had no one to turn to but my confidence has grown as a mum by meeting other mums and sharing experiences through the family support network. So much so that I became a volunteer!  I can now help support new mums in their journey.”

With a donation you too can help Vista support more children and young people like Faisal grow in confidence.  Donate now | Vista (vistablind.org.uk)
