Grace

Vista’s Children’s & Young Persons Team has been involved with Grace for over two years.

During Covid, Grace’s mum noticed that she was holding things close and booked an eye test as soon as she could.  After 6 months of the glasses not having made an improvement, she was referred to the hospital and told that she needed to be registered as sight impaired.

Graces mum said: “As you can imagine our world crumbled that day but the support from the team at Vista in the clinic was exactly what we needed as parents.  After attending the first event organised by the Children’s and Young Person’s team it was clear that Grace really enjoyed meeting all the other children and she said it was awesome to be around people that understood sight loss and she could just relax and get stuck in.
The family support network has been amazing for me as a parent, Grace really enjoys all the activities and loves being around other children with similar sight impairments.  As a family we are embracing the changes to ensure Grace reaches her full potential and has every opportunity. Grace’s confidence has grown – not that she needs much more!”.

Last year Vista supported over 500 children and young people across the region.   Please help Vista support other children like Grace to fulfil their potential, build confidence and achieve their aspirations.
