Join our volunteer team and make a difference to people affected by sight loss 

Everyday tasks and staying connected to loved ones can be very challenging without digital know-how. We’re looking for Digital Buddies to support people with sight-loss by helping them find out more about technology. They will advise and train the people we support to use digital devices to get online and connect with the community.

New accessibility features provide fantastic opportunities for people affected by sight loss. We’re committed to teaching people to use these features, and are expanding our team to be able to support more people locally. 

Responsibilities: 

Your skills will help people to:

  • Find their way around a device.
  • Navigating the internet safely
  • Setting up an email account
  • Searching for information on the internet
  • Downloading apps like social media and meeting tools
  • Using communication tools like Zoom and Facetime
  • Signposting to local organisations that may benefit the participant
  • Signposting to online activities and hobbies

 Qualities and skills we are looking for:

  • You do not need to be a computing expert!
  • You need to want to broaden your own computing skills and pick up skills
  • You need to be good at communicating computing terms to absolute beginners clearly and with patience.
  • Be willing to learn new skills
  • A sociable, caring and understanding manner
  • Reliable

  • Have training in Assistive Technology and Visual Impairment awareness. 
  • Give the amount of time that works for you
