Volunteer Driver
- Location Various locations around Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland
- Hours 2 days a week but flexible from 9.00 -1.00pm
- Pay Voluntary
We are looking for someone honest and reliable to go to various locations around Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, helping us to provide eye screenings, sell minor aids/equipment for visually impaired people and provide advice and information about different eye conditions and Vista services. There will be some moving and handling involved to open the bus and set up, assist members of the public on the ramp and closing of the bus.
Qualities and skills we are looking for:
- Full driving licence and experience of driving large vehicles
- Reliability and punctuality
- Ability to lift and handle equipment, regarding your own health & safety and others where appropriate
Support provided for you:
- Health and safety and manual handling training
- Visual impairment training
- Safeguarding training
- Any other training identified by yourself or the manager
- Increase your own self confidence
- Help us by promoting eye health care to support local people with sight loss and people at risk of losing their eyesight
- Meet new and interesting people.
- Learn new skills that could be helpful for future employment opportunities or further learning
- Have fun
Health & Safety:
All volunteers will be expected to:
- Ensure that they comply with Vista’s Health & Safety policy at all times
- Take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and others whom, may be affected by their acts or omissions whilst volunteering
This volunteering opportunity is suitable for volunteers aged 18 years and above and is subject to 2 references.
