Queensmead Primary Academy go for gold!
Pupils and staff from Queensmead Primary Academy in Braunstone, Leicester, were recently joined by gold winning Paralympian Libby Clegg, MBE, who accepted a vital donation towards the work of Vista.
Principal, Liz Latham Quotes “Our pupils took part in Bright for Sight on World Sight Day in October and raised a magnificent £367 by dressing in brightly coloured clothes. It was great fun and very well supported. Everyone at Queensmead was so pleased to be able to make this donation to Vista, a local charity that supports children and adults with sight loss. It was also an honour to welcome Libby to the school”
Libby Clegg, MBE, joined pupils at an assembly and spoke about her sight loss along with her inspiring world record breaking Olympic journey. Libby also brought along her two gold medals for the pupils to hold and is hoping that by sharing her experiences it will inspire local children. Libby who is a Community Fundraiser for Vista, presented the pupils with a certificate of appreciation for their outstanding support.
“We are so grateful to the pupils and staff at Queensmead for their fantastic donation towards the work of Vista and I am so pleased they have pledged their ongoing support to the charity” quotes Libby.
Libby also states, “I also want to appeal for more local schools and organisations to support the work of Vista, we recognise that times are very challenging for many - a little help would go a long way in supporting our local sight loss community and our help is absolutely vital to them.”
