Residential Homes Announcement 2024

Published on 7th August 2024 in Residential

Vista is the leading local sight loss charity providing services to those affected by sight loss across Leicester Leicestershire and Rutland. Over the years, we have provided compassionate care and a safe, supportive environment.

We are immensely proud of our services and the high-quality care that we provide.  We have seen many changes in residential care over the past couple of years, but most notably available funding for high quality care not keeping pace with increasing costs.

After a consultation process we propose to close our residential homes Applegarth and Kathleen Rutland. We will continue to run Simmins Crescent for the foreseeable future.

This difficult decision has been motivated by the changing need for our services alongside the financial sustainability of the charity.

Kathleen Rutland and Applegarth proposed closure will be on 22nd September 2024 and we are committed to supporting our residents to find somewhere new to live.

We have not taken this decision lightly but we believe this is in the best interests of the growing numbers of people affected by sight loss across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

It is hoped this strategic change will ensure the long term sustainability of Vista’s essential services continuing to improve the lives of people affected by sight loss today and in the future.
