Early risers and supporters of local sight loss charity Vista joined over 500 others who took part in a 5K challenge at 5:30am on Friday 10th May.

Sunrise City, organised by Perfect Motion, saw a wave of nearly 600 runners braving the grey conditions and completing the route around Leicester city centre, going past various famous landmarks such as Leicester Cathedral and New Walk, starting and finishing at Victoria Park.

Nearly 50 runners were part of Team Vista, which consisted of members of the public, supporters, Vista employees, and people supported by the charity, who completed the route with guides. Pardy Gill, Sharon Finney and Chris Hammond successfully completed the route with the guiding assistance of Vista senior staff and volunteers keeping them on the straight and narrow.

Becky Poole, Community and Corporate Fundraiser at Vista, said “It was lovely to have a big team of runners, including people who use Vista’s services, taking part in order to raise vital funds for the charity. The money raised will make a real difference for local people with sight loss.”
