Vista targeted in weekend burglary

Published on 19th November 2018

Vista staff came into the office on Monday morning to find they had been burgled.

Equipment worth thousands of pounds, including laptops, iPads, and the contents of a safe, with the staff Christmas fund, were stolen during the break-in at Vista’s new head office on New Walk, Leicester.

Glyn Rees-Jones, Deputy Chief Executive, said “We’re all very shocked by the break-in over the weekend. We are a local charity helping local people with sight loss and to have vital equipment stolen is frustrating. This has had an impact on our staff so we’re all working hard to support each other through this difficult time, and we’re assisting Leicestershire Police, with this on-going investigation.”

Several laptops taken were taken, as well the contents of a safe. During the break-in dozens of personal drawers and filing cabinets were forced broken and rifled through, damaging the furniture and further adding to the cost of the burglary. Currently the robbery has cost us thousands in stolen and damaged goods.

The charity is asking for any donations to help cover the costs of replacing the stolen goods, which were used to help those with sight loss across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.

In response to supporters asking how they can help Vista at this challenging time they have set up a fundraising page which you can donate to here www.justgiving.com/campaign/vistaburglary
